Bel Air, MD · Hanley's since 1995, back since 2019

Same name. New chapter.

The Hanleys have run gyms in Bel Air since 1995. After a few years away, Pat Jr. reopened Hanley's in 2019 with one rule intact: no ego on the floor.

Our story

Two chapters. One standard. Zero gimmicks.

The first Hanley’s Gym opened in Bel Air in 1995 with a simple idea: a real gym for people who want to train. Heavy iron, fair prices, and a floor where nobody cares what you look like, only that you show up.

The family stepped away from the gym for about six years to focus on youth lacrosse training. In 2019, Pat Jr. brought Hanley’s back on Conowingo Road: a new building, new equipment, and the same standard. The chains have come and gone around it. Hanley’s is still independently owned and still the place Harford County lifters call home.

“Our business specializes in making our members feel like superheroes. Come find out what we are about!”

What we stand for

The Hanley's standard.

01

Real training, real people

Hanley's has never chased trends. It's a bodybuilding and strength gym for people who want to get stronger, and it has stayed that way through both chapters of the gym.

02

Everyone starts somewhere

The strongest members on the floor were beginners once. Nobody gets stared at for learning. Ask a question, get an answer.

03

Fair to a fault

Fifteen dollars gets you a full day. Sixty-five gets you a month, one-fifty gets you three. Straightforward, every time.

04

Feel like a superhero

Pat says the job is making members feel like superheroes. Show up consistently and the floor will do the rest.

“One of the best gyms to just lift heavy and get all that aggression out. There's no ego, just put up the weight and move on to the next. The owner is very down to earth.”
